Letters From Clara: One Intrepid Woman's Travels on The Eve of War, 1936-1939
Welcome back to season 2! We are kicking things off with a thrill ride. Travel back to the 1930’s with my guest and author Janet Newman. We discuss her book LETTERS FROM CLARA: ONE INTREPID WOMAN’S TRAVELS ON THE EVE OF WAR, 1936-1939. At 40 years of age, this seemingly normal woman from Wisconsin goes on a three-year journey to travel the globe to exotic locations and learn about the world and herself. Janet shares how the book came to be, the importance of the YWCA to her and Clara, and plenty of tidbits from the book. Hear about Clara’s first plane trip adventure in China or her struggles overcoming her prejudices.
